Wedesday 7th December – Hill climb records?

The winter was definitely being to settle in as we met at Hylands Garage this wednesday. Huddling against the stif cold wind was a group consisting of Darren (not loving his 80mm winter bike!) Amanda, Kevin, BigAl (on the “Do you have to strap this down to stop it floating off?” Ibis Tranny SS), JohnR, JonH, Lloyd (beating the traffic to … Read the rest…

Ride Sunday 4th of December – Socialising in the Surrey hills

It was a “select” group that met up this morning at the Bocketts Farm car park. Kevin, Karl, a somewhat under the weather DaveC and myself. Maybe the it was the lack of e-mails prior to the ride or the proximity to Xmas but the 14-15 rider groups of the previous few weeks didn’t appear. Nor the MWB AWOL Matt … Read the rest…

Ride Report: Sunday 27 November – The sick, the lame and the just plain lazy

Today was an Old Crocks ride, with Jem and Dandy (both recovering from long illnesses), Keith (ankle), James Pro (collar bone), Colin (fatigued from having been at it all night long last month) and DaveC (birthday hangover). Together they probably rattled more than their bikes! Read the rest…

Ride report: Wednesday 17 November – New Faces… Old Friends

Mindful of the eponymous JRPM factor, I arrived in plenty of time for the Wednesday night ride. As expected there were some newer riders; Jon H, who has quickly got the knack of posting on the forum to check there is going to be a Wednesday night ride, and Ross along for his second ride with the Moles.

Ride report: Sunday 13 November – is it really mid November?

With Matt once again not being out it’s down to me for the Krypton Factor challenge of remembering everyone who was out this Sunday. So with apologies for those missed. A glorious morning – can it really be mid November? – saw another big group of Barrie, Kev, Karl, JohnR, JohnH, BigAl, DaveC, new rider (another) Matt, DaveS, MarkW, Jez … Read the rest…

Wednesday the 9th – no banana was hurt in the making of this ride

With the evening staying fair the turnout on Wednesday was a little higher than recent rides with Five moles meeting up at the Hylands garage. Lloyd, JohnR, Kev, Matt and Olly. The more observant of will note at this point that my name wasn’t on that list.

Remember, remember the …err…Sunday 6th of November.

With a few post Bonfire night hangovers, a group of Moles consisting of DaveC, JohnR, Lloyd, BigAl, RayK, JohnH, The “Tandemists” (Amanda and Darren), Robin, Barrie met up last Sunday morning. There were no serious JRPM factors to contend with so we set off promptly with a vague plan to head over to Peaslake

Ride report: Sunday 30 October – Classic Leith

After a week of road riding – some of it in very damp weather it must be said – today it was back to the mountain bike for a ride over to Leith Hill. This was to be our classic run from Bookham to Leith Hill Tower which usually packs in a variety of challenges and so it proved today.
