Wee in his (bike) shoes
Sunday morning, 8:45. There I am, in my garage, hurriedly squeezing my feet into my tired Shimano bike shoes for another blast around the Surrey Hills on my On-one Inbred. In my haste, I overlook a faint tang in the air as I put on my right shoe.
11 things for Mountain Bikers
As a Mountain Bike rider (as opposed to someone who just talks about MTB riding), here’s a few things you may want to do at some stage. I was going to call this post ’11 things for Mountain Bikers to do before you die’ but felt that was a tweak too far on the nose of Fate.
Guest review – Orange Five SE, Whyte E5 XT, Intense 5.5 EVP and Marin Mount Vision
Orange Five SE, Whyte E5 XT, Intense 5.5 EVP and Marin Mount Vision ridden and tested. A chance to buy a new bike gives the opportunity for a direct comparison between some high quality MTBs.

Madison says goodbye to Manitou
Creating not so much a passing interest as a shrug of indifference from most of the English speaking free world (unless you are a Mountain Biker), Bike Biz are reporting that Shimano’s UK distributors Madison have decided to end their distribution agreement with for Manitou forks, saying that although they believe Manitou will ‘regain the market position that it has […]
Down to earth with a bump
As I am the only Mole who didn’t get a name check in Matt’s post about our outing to Holmbury Hill, (probably due to the fact I made it the whole way round without falling off or breaking my Mountain Bike), I thought I might post a few words about last night’s ride.
2008 SRAM Product Launch
SRAM have recently launched their 2008 product range to the press at Sea Otter although news on revisions to the Rock Shox range seemingly will have to wait to later. Looks like a classic case of evolution over revolution after a couple of years where SRAM have really pushed forward on their product ranges, but worthwhile changes nonetheless. I’ve added […]
My exploding bike tyre
I was reading Al Leigh’s recent post on the Pickled Hedgehog about his difficulties performing basic bike maintenance. His resulting wheel explosion reminded of the time I too managed to detonate what seemed like a nuclear explosion in my garage.
On-one Inbred review – a humpin’ an a bumpin’ an a rollin’ an a rattlin’
A review of the On-one Inbred classic – lively or supple, it’s all down to how you ride it.
Waiting for my Five to arrive
So having dallied with the idea of a number of possible new bikes, including the Intense 5.5 EVP and the Whyte E5, I’ve finally placed an order with Cycleworks in Leatherhead for a new 2007 Orange Five. No surprises really as there seems to be a consensus forming amongst my fellow Moles and others. Dave and Jem are both now […]
One bike and two men down!
Sunday saw us travelling over to Holmbury Hill for some fun on the dusty dry trails that have suddenly appeared everywhere. The plan was to make the most of Dave and Jem’s new Orange Fives and have a morning of Mountain Biking fun in the Surrey Hills singletrack.
Venturing beyond the Surrey Hills
This year, for the first time, we’re starting to look at riding beyond the confines of the Surrey Hills.
Why I haven’t been mountain biking lately
Or blogging about it either. Ahh, the inevitable barren spell of the amateur blogger! There’s been an interuption to normal service this past couple of weeks over Easter due to two things, both of which having conspired to stop me getting out riding the local trails. First off, I was struck down by a nasty virus which kept me out […]
