A little piece of Heaven

After a ride of pretty much any description I’m always up for a piece of cake and a tea or hot chocolate. The National Trust kiosk at the top of Box Hill is a little piece of heaven when it comes to the cake!

No matter how many times I climb up the bridleway running up Box Hill I always find it a slog. After putting some serious effort in it’s important to reward myself and I usually do with a piece of the fine flapjack and cup of hot chocolate.

Sue is always there will a cheery smile and some comment or another. Sue also has a curse for the cyclist with the £20 note paying for a tea at 9am. Please try and take some change, she is always very grateful for that.

The cakes are marvellous. We’ve had the chocolate brownie (best near the end of the ride!!!), the flapjack, the poppyseed and orange cake, the date slice and the treacle tart.

If you are in the area, pop in and try something. I doubt you will be disappointed.

Thanks for reading,
DaveC
